Public holidays in the Imaginary Lands of Nicholas, also known as statutory holidays (Traditional Chinese: 公眾假期), are days legislated by the kingdom and its autonomous countries. Some holidays are observed throughout the kingdom, but each autonomous country has the right to set its own holidays as well. Holidays are governed by the General Holidays Ordinance (Traditional Chinese: 公眾假期條例) in the Constitution, and allows school children and employee to be off-school and work on those specific days. Businesses may also be closed, however, exempts can be applied.
Sundays are automatically listed as one of the holidays, with Saturday being marked as one of the optional holidays for employees. Employees may get both days off or at least one of the two off every week, depending on the contract, as dictated by the ordinance.
Because of the kingdom's background in being colonized, the kingdom has one of the most holidays in the world, reflecting both local Chinese-based cultures and the colonizing European cultures.
