The Summer 2009 Census was an enumeration of the population of residents in the Regional Municipality of Gravenhurst. Census day was August 1, 2009. The estimation date (the date when the results of the estimates of the population in each municipality is released) was on August 15, 2009. The next census will be held in December 2009, with the estimation date in either late October or November 2009. The population enumerated in the Summer 2009 Census was 910,095. The count was significantly higher than the original estimation of 850,000. The last census reported the region has a population of 726,967, and when compared to this census, the population has been risen by close to 200,000, by 25.19%. The census department credited the huge rise in population to amalgamation of the City of Topsity, as well as continuous, rapid, new developments in Sydenham, Wellington, Donsley, Lisi, and Archemedes.

The last census was the Spring 2009 Census; the next census will be the Winter 2009 Census.

In the Summer 2009 census, there were 41 municipalities (2 more than the previous census), with the largest still being Archemedes, with a population of 382,267. The next largest is Vandehogan, with a population of 98,997. The smallest being Muskoka Lake, with a population of 3.
